Canvas access has been restored for our users, but the service reliability remains uncertain. Due to recent events, Canvas has had intermittent outages which are at the discretion of the vendor and may occur during a final exam. Faculty and staff may continue to use Canvas, but we strongly advise faculty and students to prepare a contingency plan for turning in assignments and final exams in the event Canvas access becomes unavailable again.
Instructure, the company that owns Canvas, has provided an FAQ about the incident, which may not answer all your questions. We will share more information if it becomes available.
All new international students studying in F or J status, including any transfers from other U.S. institutions, must complete the ISSS Immigration Course (F-1 & J-1 Students) in Canvas.
ISSS requires students to complete the ISSS Immigration Course to ensure that everyone understands how to maintain their immigration status. Please contact ISSS if you have any questions about how to maintain your F or J immigration status.
ISSS is here to help you. Please contact us before taking any action that could put your immigration status at risk.

ISSS will place a hold on your student account in your first semester if you are an F-1 or J-1 student and do not complete the ISSS Immigration Course. The registration hold will prevent you from adding classes for the current semester or registering for future semesters. Please contact [email protected] if you have completed the course and have a hold from ISSS.
There is a specific ISSS Immigration Course for each campus. Please review your I-20 or DS-2019 if you are not certain which course to complete.
Once you know which course to complete, click on the button below for your campus’s ISSS Immigration Course. Clicking the button will enroll you in the immigration course on Canvas.
