Susana Vela is an International Services Specialist at the office of ISSS. She is passionate about internationalization and the immigration legal procedures required for international scholars to study and work in the United States successfully. She mainly serves scholars at the Anschutz Medical and Downtown Denver campuses. She came to the United States to further her education shortly after completing a Law Degree from Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and master’s degrees in American Comparative Law (DU) and Spanish Literature (UC Denver).  Before joining the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical campus, she worked as a Senior Paralegal and taught in the Political Science Department at Metropolitan State University. In addition, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, yoga, and spending quality time with family and friends.
