Virtual Private Network (VPN) Updated Client
Dec 10, 2020An updated version of the university’s virtual private network (VPN) GlobalProtect (version 5.2.3) became available on December 2. OIT highly recommends downloading the newer version for best accessibility. The VPN allows staff, faculty and students to safely connect to the secure university network, as if you were on campus.
You will be prompted to upgrade when connecting to GlobalProtect. If you didn’t update when prompted, you can later check the version you are using from About on the GlobalProtect app menu and click Check for Updates.
While installing the update, be sure you do not have any applications running that require the VPN for access. After installation, we recommend rebooting your computer. If you are experiencing any issues, refer to the MacOS GlobalProtect installation instructions or Windows GlobalProtect installation instructions.
Once you have restarted your device and opened the GlobalProtect client, you will need to re-enter your primary campus VPN portal:
- CU Denver VPN portal address is: dc-vpn.ucdenver.edu
- CU Anschutz Medical Campus VPN portal address is: amc-vpn.ucdenver.edu
Multi-factor authentication with Duo is required to safely use the VPN. More information is available on the OIT VPN and Remote Access webpage.
