Take That, Cybercriminals! Multi-Factor Authentication for Microsoft 365 is Now Live!
May 26, 2020Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft 365 (MS365) went live today!
You now must use MFA to access MS365 applications, including your university email, OneDrive and Teams, using Duo. However, if you are connected to the network using Virtual Private Network (VPN) or Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI), or you are an approved essential employee who is physically present on campus, you will not be challenged for MFA until you are remote.
You may be asked to authenticate when initially connecting to MS365 applications remotely.
- It may take some time before you are prompted to authenticate through MS Outlook on your desktop or phone. Please don't be concerned if you are not prompted immediately.
- If you accessed your email using MS Outlook and authenticated with Duo, you have up to 90 days before you need to authenticate again on each device you used to connect.
- If you use a supported browser or anything other than MS Outlook, you may be required to authenticate each time you close that application.
If you have questions, check out OIT’s CU Secure and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) web page, where you will find information, FAQs, training documentation and links out to other important technology information on the OIT website.
