OIT Services in the Spotlight: Tools and Technologies
Mar 26, 2020Our team wants all faculty, staff and students to know that we are doing our absolute best to keep our infrastructure operational for you to leverage day and night throughout this challenging time. Fortunately, the university offers multiple options to keep remote working, teaching, and learning running while still meeting defined goals during emergency situations.
The OIT website provides technical resources needed to move to an online environment for working and hosts a valuable hub for teaching and learning resources in collaboration with the Office of Digital Education, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and Thinq Studio.
During this time, it is important to select tools and technologies that meet your specific needs. It may be difficult to determine what tools are needed for which tasks. For guidelines, please visit the following webpages:
- For remote work options and comparing tools such as Office 365 applications including email, the university’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Remote Desktop and Applications, go to Remote Working
- For faculty resources dedicated to teaching remotely, support, tutorials and more, go to Remote Teaching
- For students learning to navigate how to learn online and where to find resources and support, go to Remote Learning
Whether you are a faculty member, staff employee, researcher or student, Office 365 provides simplified collaboration and cloud connections for all of us. More information about what’s available as part of the suite of products is available here.
It’s also extremely important to be vigilant about staying safe from cyber scams when using your email and Office 365 apps. Helpful suggestions are available from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. More information about what we are doing to protect the university’s systems and your personal information is available on the OIT News page.
OIT is dedicated to being your service partner and hope to make this transition to remote working, learning and teaching as understandable and seamless as possible. Please reach out to the Service Desk for any technology questions – the team will answer questions and work through any issues they can or if needed, forward your situation to a subject matter expert to help solve.
