Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Plans Continue
Mar 26, 2020Over the past couple years, the CU Secure project team has been working diligently on ways to better protect both your personal information and the university’s data. As we have seen, the recent global health issues have not stopped cybercriminals from malicious activity and the university continues to monitor activities to protect our infrastructure.
Many faculty, students and staff are already using the MFA app Duo Security while connecting to campus resources from remote locations. Using Duo for multi-factor authentication means that an identity thief cannot use a stolen password to access our systems or your personal information without a second proof of your identity.
We are currently requiring Duo to safely access the virtual private network and when accessing remote desktop and applications. If you haven’t already installed and registered for Duo, now is the perfect time. To access remote options currently – such as files on the university network – and to prepare for future use of Duo with email and other Office 365 applications from off-campus, get started while you’re testing new technologies from your home!
Get Duo
Step #1: Install the Duo app on your preferred device
- OIT highly recommends doing this on your smartphone
- Printable pdf instructions for installing and registering for Duo are available here
Step #2: Register for Duo from your laptop or desktop computer at: https://passport.ucdenver.edu/CUSecure.php. After you have installed the Duo app on your mobile device, the Duo Authentication “Start setup” message will appear.
