IT Access and Services Limited Through Weekend
Dec 12, 2021A key responsibility of our university OIT Security Operations is to be vigilant concerning the rapidly changing cyberterrorism and cybercrime landscape.
As such, security groups across campuses and University Information Services informed IT leadership Friday afternoon, December 10th, of a serious global security threat impacting Java Log4J software.
The CU System Office and all CU campuses made the decision to take preemptive and risk mitigating actions. OIT teams have temporarily restricted access to public facing, online systems. We will also stop the provisioning of new accounts and password resets. Additionally, systems with particular vulnerability to this threat will be temporarily shut down.
Users with VPN access may be able to reach systems including: my.cu.edu, Slate, and SIS. If you have a business critical technology need and are unable to access your application, please contact the OIT service desk. We will assist you if there is a work around for your specific need.
We will send out additional information as it becomes available and relevant. The restricted access will continue through the weekend and will be removed when we have implemented vendor-supplied security patches and are confident that all systems are safe and ready to access again.
The protection of our institutional data and systems is paramount, and we appreciate your understanding of the seriousness of this situation.
