Blood & Bone Marrow Drives

Why should you consider donating blood?  It helps save lives.

“Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.  Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.  This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation.  The need for blood is constant.  But only 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly.” American Red Cross

CU Denver sponsors the Vitalant Blood Donation organization to sponsor campus blood drives and bone marrow donation screening events 5-6 times each semester.  Vitalant is the nation’s largest independent, nonprofit organization focused exclusively on providing lifesaving blood services.  Below are the Spring Semester 2023 drives to be held at St. Cajetan's on the Auraria Campus.

Bone Marrow Donations

Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia.  For patients with blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases, a cure exists.  Be The Match is a community of donors, volunteers, health care professionals and researchers who deliver cures by helping patients get the life-saving marrow transplant they need.  Learn More
