Start a Student Organization

We are so excited you are interested in bringing a new organization to CU Denver! This will be a journey where your leadership and organizational skills are challenged and we are here to support you along the way. Check out the steps below to get started:

Step 1: Determine the type of organization you are working to create (Department Sponsored Student Organization, Registered Student Organization, or Meet Up Group) and your organization's financial status (affiliated or associated).

    • Review the Recognition and Requirements document to determine type and financial status.
    • Optional: Sign up for a meeting with a member of the Student Organizations team to answer any questions or to brainstorm organizational structure here..

Step 2: If your organization is a Department Sponsored Student Organization or Registered Student Organization, find three CU Denver students to be (1) President, (2) Vice President, and (3) Treasurer and a CU Denver faculty or staff member to be your advisor.

    • Next, create a constitution for your organization. See a sample constitution here or on the MyLynx Organization Registration form.
    • Note: all constitutions must have a non-discrimination clause as stated in the sample constitution.

Step 3: If your organization is a Meet Up Group, you'll need a President, faculty, or staff advisor, and a philosophy statement.  The philosophy statement prompt is found in the Organization Registration Form.

Step 4: Complete the Organization Registration Form. NEW STUDENT ORGANIZATION REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED UNTIL JULY 1, 2022. Please reach out if you have any questions at
