In alignment with the University’s concerns for the safety of our community in response to COVID-19, effective Monday March 16, 2020, the Office of Equity is currently working remotely until the conclusion of the Spring Semester. As such, we may experience minor delays in our response times. Currently, we will not be scheduling in-person appointments or be available on campus. We will, however, remain available via phone, email and video conference. Thank you for your understanding.
The Office of Equity's stated mission is to strive to stop, prevent, and remedy discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and any related retaliation; provide education, training and outreach; design policies and procedures to make our campus safer and more inclusive; and ensure all individuals are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
The Office of Equity is currently reviewing the new Title IX regulations by the U.S. Department of Education and Office for Civil Rights that were announced on May 6, 2020. These regulations must be implemented on an aggressive timeline at a challenging time for our University, but we will work with our campus stakeholders and make the changes necessary. We must comply with this new federal law by August 14, 2020. Our office is currently reviewing the new regulations to determine what changes will need to be made and we will keep the campus apprised on our progress.
