Colorado’s First Cases of COVID-19

March 6, 2020

As you have likely seen in the news, Governor Jared Polis announced Colorado’s first two presumptive cases of COVID-19 yesterday afternoon, (“presumptive” until they are confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], a procedure currently in process).

Though there are still no known cases of COVID-19 on either the CU Denver or CU Anschutz campuses, we wanted to share this information with you and assure you that we are planning for various possibilities, including the increased likelihood for more local instances of COVID-19.

We have received questions regarding how COVID-19 may impact university operations. These decisions will depend on how many cases are confirmed locally, where the affected people live, what containment measures can be applied, and what guidance we receive from local, state, and federal authorities.

We will continue to update you as the situation, and university policies, evolve. Please continue to check this website for the latest campus updates.

Thank you for your cooperation and compassion for others during this time of uncertainty.
