Campus Food Security Action Plan

As you may be aware, the ongoing federal government shutdown has resulted in the temporary suspension of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for many individuals and families across the country. We recognize that this development may create unexpected hardship for members of our own community. 
 
In keeping with our university’s commitment to care and belonging, we have launched a coordinated Campus Food Security Action Plan to ensure that all students, staff, and faculty have continued access to food and essential resources during this period. 

Please see below for information on accessing existing and expanded Food Security resources: 

Milo’s Market Expanded Hours 

 

Starting on Monday, November 10th, 2025 

Milo's Market is CU Denver’s free grocery store – a hub for all students, staff, and faculty to access free foods and hygiene items.

Located in the CU Denver Wellness Center, 3rd Floor 

  1. Monday: 8am-10am*   

  2. Monday: 12pm-6pm  

  • Tuesday: 12pm-6pm  

  • Wednesday: 12pm-6pm  

  • Thursday: 12pm-6pm 

  • Friday: 9:30am-12:30pm*  

 

*Denotes hours specifically reserved for students impacted by the current SNAP funding delays. 

 

Fall Break Hours

Monday November 24th - Wednesday, November 26th: 12pm - 5pm

Thursday November 27th - Friday November 28th: CLOSED

Meal Swipe Program

In partnership with Sodexo and Lynx Dining, we are offering free meal swipes to students needing food assistance to access Lynx Dining Halls.

Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in at least one course in the current semester and may NOT have an existing meal plan.  

How it Works: 

1. Submit an application here. 

2. The Basic Needs Team will process your request in 1-2 business days.  

3. You will then receive an email from [email protected] with instructions on how to activate your meal swipes. 

 

Serve Back Community Meals

This new meal program will be offered Tuesday and Friday every week from 2 to 4 p.m. in City Heights Dining Hall at no cost to CU Denver students directly impacted by a SNAP disruption.

Mobile Food Pop-Up Sites Across Campus

Milo’s Market will be hosting weekly pop-up pantry sites across campus for students to access food bags with essential non-perishable items, produce, hygiene products, and prepared meals. Please visit us during the days and times listed below. All you need to bring is your Lynx ID. 

  • Tuesday, November 11th 303 Tivoli, Student Life Office (9am-11am) 
  • Wednesday, November 12th – North Classroom NRTH-1806 (8am-12pm)  
  • Thursday, November 13th – CU Denver Building CU-1100 (2pm-6pm)  
  • Wednesday, November 19th – CU-Denver Building CU-1000 (2pm-6pm)  
  • Thursday, November 20th – North Classroom Building – NRTH-1314 (8am-12pm)  
  • Monday, November 24th – Wellness Center, 3rd Floor Milo’s Market (8am-12pm)  
  • Tuesday, November 25th – Wellness Center, 3rd Floor Milo’s Market (2pm-6pm)

Campus Wide Hygiene Drive  

Organized by CU Staff Council and supported by Student Affairs in coordination with our campus partners and shared governance groups, the campus wide hygiene drive will run from November 1st through December 1stto collect the following much needed items. 

Help CU Denver students by donating new, unopened hygiene items such as: 

  • Soap 
  • Shampoo & conditioner 
  • Toothpaste & toothbrushes 
  • Deodorant 
  • Lotion 
  • Feminine hygiene products 
  • Razors & shaving cream 
  • Toilet paper 
  • Tissues 
  • Wet wipes 
  • Laundry detergent (pods or small bottles) 

*Full size and travel/mini size products are greatly appreciated!

  • Connecting students to additional support for housing, transportation, financial, medical, and mental health services through the Wellness Center
