Introduction to PDF Remediation

In this hands on workshop, participants use Adobe Acrobat Pro to investigate and solve accessibility issues in PDFs. Following the training, participants will have the chance to submit a document to instructors for individualized feedback. 

Target Audience

  • State agencies and local governments who need to comply with state and national accessibility regulations
  • Organizations that want to create inclusive and accessible materials

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Apply recognized accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to ensure compliance in existing PDF documents.
  • Tag or retag a document using Adobe Acrobat Pro to ensure proper reading order and structure
  • Use Acrobat accessibility tools and methods to test and validate PDF accessibility
  • Remediate an inaccessible document using Adobe Acrobat Pro, addressing key accessibility issues such as text readability, image descriptions, and proper document structure.
  • Submit that document for feedback
