CU Anschutz has two campus-level teaching awards given annually to faculty members in each school and college and the programs in Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, and Anesthesiologist Assistant; the award winners are selected by the students in the respective schools/college/program.

President’s Excellence in Teaching Award Criteria 2025

The President's Excellence in Teaching Awardees are recognized annually at the commencement exercises. One faculty member is selected by the graduating class in the School of Dental Medicine, the School of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Colorado School of Public Health, as well as the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program, Physical Therapy Program, and Anesthesiologist Assistant Program. This recognition includes a glass award and a one-time cash award of $500 added to the recipient’s salary.

The criteria for the President’s Teaching Award are as follows:

The President's Excellence in Teaching Award is an acknowledgement of a faculty member's outstanding, innovative, and inspirational contributions to the students’ professional development.

Awardees will be chosen by the graduating classes of:

  1. School of Dental Medicine
  2. School of Medicine
  3. College of Nursing
  4. Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
  5. Colorado School of Public Health
  6. Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program
  7. Physical Therapy Program
  8. Anesthesiologist Assistant Program

The graduating classes will choose the awardees and inform their deans or program directors and associate deans for student affairs. The deans, program directors, or associate deans will transmit the names of the awardees along with a current CV to [email protected] no later than Monday, April 14, 2025.

Chancellor’s Teaching Recognition Award Criteria 2025

Chancellor's Teaching Recognition awardees are recognized annually at the commencement exercises. The School of Dental Medicine, the Graduate School, the School of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Colorado School of Public Health, as well as the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program, Physical Therapy Program, and Anesthesiologist Assistant Program, will each have one Chancellor's Teaching Recognition Award, which includes a glass award and a one-time cash award of $1,000 added to the recipient's salary. 

The purpose of the Chancellor's Teaching Recognition Award is to recognize and reward outstanding teaching.  The selection of the award winner in the Graduate School will be coordinated by the Graduate School Dean's Office.

The criteria for the Chancellor's Teaching Recognition Award are as follows:

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing students with a high quality learning experience.
  • Maintenance of high scholarly standards for both the rigor of the course content and student performance.
  • Possession of personal attributes which make the faculty member an effective role model.

The selection process should be as follows:  

  1. Each Dean of Program Director should solicit three nominations for the award from the school- or college- or program-wide student governance group.  If there is no school- or college or program-wide governance group, the graduating class will nominate.  If possible, nominees should be different from those nominated for other teaching awards within the school, college, or program.
  2. The nominees should be reviewed by a committee within the school, college, or program consisting of one representative of the student governance group, one representative of the faculty governance group, and one administrator designated by the Dean or Program Director.  This committee will make a final recommendation to the Dean or Program Director.
  3. Names of the awardees, along with a current CV, should be submitted to [email protected] no later than Monday, April 14, 2025.
