In this session, Karen Sobel (Director, CFDA) and Rachel Gross (Faculty Fellow, Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning) will cover how and why you can use teaching observations as a tool to build your practice. Topics covered will include:

Why we have teaching observations
Who can perform teaching observations & how to request them
Planning in advance to maximize the value of your observations
The pros and cons of having a department colleague versus CETL or another “outside” group
How to use the feedback you receive to grow
Handling your emotions after you receive feedback (how do I deal with comments that sting?)
Building upon your strengths in your teaching
How to touch on feedback in dossier teaching statements (we’ll have another session that covers this in detail)

Announcements

The CFDA will be working remotely from May 13th thru August 9th. We will be available from 9-5pm Monday through Fridays, and in person at the Learning Commons, 3rd floor space on Wednesdays from 8-3pm. If you need assistance outside of these hours, please email us at CFDA@udenver.edu
