Required:    

• DA candidates must have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average.  
• DA candidates must be currently enrolled (at least part-time) on the Auraria campus.  
• DA candidates must attend the entirety of mandatory Fall Training (August 3, 2026 – August 7, 2026). 
• No exceptions will be approved (internships, vacations, etc).  
• DAs must be available to assist with Fall Move-In (August 8, 2026 – August 16, 2026). 
• DAs must be available to work a minimum 10 hours a week.  
  
  Physical Requirements:   
  In this role, you will:    
  
• Routinely handle, lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50-75 pounds  
• Maintain a stationary position during shift periods  
• Move throughout the building and office to perform tasks effectively  
  
  Preferred: 
  
• On-campus resident for the academic term appointed.  
  
• At least 1 academic year’s experience living in a Residence Hall.  
  
• Valid driver’s license and able to drive a golf cart (high priority) 
  
• Work Study Awarded (high priority) - will be verified.  

• Answer the telephone and respond to departmental emails in a friendly, courteous, and prompt manner using proper English.  
• De-escalation of guests & residents regarding concerns in the hall, in person & over the phone 
• Dispatch calls or refer residents to appropriate staff members or after-hours staff.  
• Call prospective residents to help complete pending/ incomplete housing contracts.  
• Give daily admission housing tours to prospective residents, as well as walk-in tours of the residence halls.  
• Support all housing marketing and orientation events.  
• Receive, sort, and log resident mail in a timely and organized manner.  
• Distribute/ drive mail across campus from our Lynx Crossing Mail Distribution Center.  
• Maintain complete and accurate front desk logs, including daily interaction forms.  
• Provide clerical support for office staff by creating documents, maintaining and saving files, and assisting with data entry.  
  
• Complete building amenity and facilities checks.  
• Support the department in all Residence Hall Opening and Closing procedures during Move-In/ Move-Out and University Breaks.  
• Assist with administrative tasks and other various duties as assigned.  
• Submit official Incident Reports promptly to the supervisor.  
• Attend mandatory monthly staff meetings.  
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor & Housing & Dining Full-Time Staff.  

General Commitments  

All RA appointments are made for the academic year, and continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and compliance with all Housing & Dining and University of Colorado Denver policies and procedures. RA employment is not guaranteed year-to-year; RAs need to apply and be selected for the next academic year.  *Please note that a separate process takes place for returning staff members. 

Time & Work Hours Expectations  

RAs work an average of 15 hours/week during the semester, including evening, night, weekend, break and holiday hours. RAs serve in an on-call rotation; in addition to the average of 15 hours, there are on-call responsibilities for this role. 

During the academic semester, when classes are in session, RAs work an average of 15 hours per week, including evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours. These hours will include interactions with residents, initiative/event planning and implementation, meetings with teams and supervisors, hall tours for prospective and current students, Move-Out and residence hall closing operations, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or other Housing & Dining staff members. 

Housing & Dining staff, including student staff, are considered Essential Personnel.  On days that a university closure occurs (e.g., snow or weather closure), staff may be required to perform essential duties (e.g., salting sidewalks).

RAs are compensated with a single-occupancy bedroom with all utilities and wireless internet provided. 

In addition, RAs receive a 19-meal/week meal plan, available only when Dining is in-service and subject to all Lynx Dining policies related to meal plan and dining facility usage. The meal plan compensation does not include Flex Cash. 

Room Assignment

Upon selection, each RA will be assigned to work in one of the University of Colorado Denver’s residence halls: City Heights Residence Hall or Lynx Crossing Residence Hall. While rare, this assignment may change either before or during employment if staffing or department needs shift and requires a change in residence hall assignment. RAs are expected to live in their assigned residence hall and maintain an active and engaging presence in the community. Establishing and maintaining connections with residents and other staff is fundamental to the effective performance of the RA role. 

Compensation Notes  

This position does not receive hourly pay or biweekly pay checks and is not eligible for Work Study. However, based on the average time spent working throughout the term of employment, the room & board compensation is valued approximately at $32.50 per hour. 

Parking is not included in the RA compensation or benefits, so successful candidates must still secure and pay for overnight parking separately.
