General Commitments
All RA appointments are made for the academic year, and continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and compliance with all Housing & Dining and University of Colorado Denver policies and procedures. RA employment is not guaranteed year-to-year; RAs need to apply and be selected for the next academic year. *Please note that a separate process takes place for returning staff members.
Time & Work Hours Expectations
RAs work an average of 15 hours/week during the semester, including evening, night, weekend, break and holiday hours. RAs serve in an on-call rotation; in addition to the average of 15 hours, there are on-call responsibilities for this role.
During the academic semester, when classes are in session, RAs work an average of 15 hours per week, including evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours. These hours will include interactions with residents, initiative/event planning and implementation, meetings with teams and supervisors, hall tours for prospective and current students, Move-Out and residence hall closing operations, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or other Housing & Dining staff members.
Housing & Dining staff, including student staff, are considered Essential Personnel. On days that a university closure occurs (e.g., snow or weather closure), staff may be required to perform essential duties (e.g., salting sidewalks).
