Funding for Project SOARR was provided by the Daniels Fund Foundation for the past two years. We are immensely grateful to them and are proud of the successful development and implementation of Project SOARR. Our Tech Mentors and mentees continue to shine! Although funding is no longer available for this program, we continue to seek alternatives and will be transitioning our work over the coming months to ensure continued support for older adults living in Colorado who wish to learn more about using technology in everyday activities
This project empowered older adults in Colorado by training Tech Mentors to offer specialized technology support, leading to improved social connections and reduced isolation.
Registered Tech Mentors received access to online and in-person training, printable materials, custom tutorial videos, and practice scenarios crafted by CIDE experts in collaboration with community partners experienced in working with older Coloradans.
The Supporting Older Adults through Relationships and Resources (SOARR) with Technology project was created to reduce the social isolation and loneliness of older adults in Colorado through the application of technology.
Our team conducted stakeholder engagement surveys, an in-depth literature review, and interviews with subject matter experts.
We created storyboards, instructional content, learning activities and evaluations to prepare tech mentors to support older adults.
Tech mentors participated in comprehensive training, equipping them with the skills, resources, and accessibility knowledge needed to support older adults, particularly those aging into disability.
We prioritized continuous mentorship and assistance, ensuring that Tech Mentors remain well-equipped and up-to-date in their ability to provide essential support for older adults in utilizing technology effectively.
