CU Denver Awarded Letter of Intent by India’s University Grants Commission
Oct 6, 2026
Dear Lynx community,
With both excitement and anticipation, I write to share that on Oct. 1, CU Denver was formally presented with its letter of intent (LOI) from the Indian University Grants Commission (UGC) to continue toward the establishment of CU Denver | Hyderabad.
For nearly a year, we've been discussing and preparing for this opportunity with our schools, colleges, administrative units, campus leadership, and shared governance. The presentation of the LOI is the result of the expertise of so many across our campus. Allow me to be one of the first to thank all involved for their dedication in clearing this significant milestone.
Building on our existing strengths, CU Denver | Hyderabad will offer pathways in high-demand fields including business, computing, engineering, and analytics, while encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving.
With the LOI in hand and with work underway across workstreams inclusive of information technology, HR and recruitment, partnerships and outreach, curriculum implementation, marketing, and real estate, we remain on track to launch our first cohort of learners at CU Denver | Hyderabad in fall 2027.
I continue to believe that CU Denver | Hyderabad represents an opportunity to pursue new learner pathways in the Indian State of Telangana, one where we already have deep roots, while also creating recurring revenue that can be reinvested here in Denver. This initiative is particularly important at a time when international student recruitment and enrollment is increasingly challenged and the possibilities for educational and economic prosperity abroad are stronger than ever. CU Denver | Hyderabad represents a critical pivot in our global education strategy.
As we transition to this next phase of development, educational access and learner opportunity will continue to guide our work, just as each has from day one. Thank you again to all who made today’s announcement possible.
