Device Reuse
Reusing devices puts free or low-cost Assistive Technology (AT) into the hands of the people who need it
May 25, 2025
Many individuals need Assistive Technology (AT) – any piece of equipment, device, or system used to improve or maintain the ability level of an individual with a disability – to complete daily tasks. Many individuals and their families have Assistive Technology equipment they are no longer using. Enter Device Reutilization (Reuse). Device Reutilization/Reuse is a unique service that both connects people with the technology they need for free or low cost and allows individuals to find a home for the technology they're no longer using.

The process is easy. Simply visit the newly renovated Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange (coloradoatexchange.org), an online resource that connects people who need assistive technology with those who have devices to share. Browse the dozens of new or gently used available items or list an item of your own in a matter of minutes. On the Exchange, you’ll find mobility equipment, communication devices, daily living aids, vision and hearing supports, and environmental adaptation, among others.
Getting the right AT doesn’t have to be prohibitively difficult or expensive. Nor does finding a new home for the devices you’re no longer using. Reach out to CIDE with any questions: 313.315.1280 or [email protected].
