Prepares individuals to teach English to diverse adolescents as they develop their reading and writing skills and an appreciation for literature. Features a residency program perfected and proven through almost 30 years of ongoing work with partner schools. Graduates gain in-depth knowledge that builds on their students' languages, abilities, cultures, and real-world experiences.

University of Colorado Denver’s MA in Teaching (MAT) with an English Education teaching license expertly prepares students to teach English to diverse adolescents as they develop their reading and writing skills and an appreciation for and skills for reading quality literature. In this program, students will study contemporary, multicultural, and classic literature and the developmental process of building reading and writing skills. As part of this program, students learn to fully engage students in their classroom by exploring:

  • Theory, methods and evidence-based practices for English education
