Many schools promise a teacher residency with experiential learning under a teacher mentor. Few can deliver one as well-supported and prepared. For more than 25 years, we have been working with area schools to create a proven residency program that supports student’s development. Students will work with teams of practicing teachers, teacher leaders, and university faculty in the school. Further, because of CU Denver's urban location and partnerships across the state as well as emphasis on teaching in diverse contexts, graduates are ready to lead and make a difference in any elementary classroom, in any district. Starting in the first year, students are placed in a partner school. In the final year, the experience culminates in a full-time student teaching residency so that students can experience life as a teacher.
