For his outstanding academic record, entrepreneurial skills, and experience in international field work, Blair Gifford, Associate Professor of International Health Management, Business School and Colorado School of Public Health, was selected as a Fulbright New Century Scholar. He collaborated with other top academics and professionals in international and American topics of global significance and focused on the year’s theme: The University as Innovation Driver and Knowledge Center.
In 2002, he started and managed the Center for Global Health, bringing together professionals with a interests to address international health challenges. His experience with the Center for Global Health enabled him recognize the importance of addressing complex and important global health issues from an interdisciplinary approach. This, in turn, translated back into his field work.
Gifford started a collaborative project with Dr. Gretchen Berggren and Harvard, Cornell and Tuskegee faculty to assist the FAMILY Institute, a Boston-based NGO, with their organizational development to improve community health programs in Haiti. Gifford facilitated the relationship-building efforts of the FAMILY Institute and drew from his knowledge of public health issues for their strategic plan.
