Coming Soon: Document Accessibility Training Series
The Center for Innovative Design and Engineering (CIDE) is launching a new, self-paced training series on document accessibility. Designed for professionals who create or share digital content, this 4-course series helps you build accessible, standards-compliant documents using tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
The first course in the series, Document Accessibility Fundamentals, will be the required starting point for all other courses. It introduces essential skills for making Word documents usable by everyone — including people with disabilities. Topics include:
- Recognizing accessibility issues in digital documents
- Using accessible design practices in Word
- Using Microsoft Word’s built-in accessibility tools
- Saving accessible PDFs from Word
All courses in the series are fully online, self-paced, and designed for completion in short modules (most take about 1–2 hours).
Courses in the Series
The full training series includes four courses:
- Document Accessibility Fundamentals – Required foundation
- PDF Remediation Basics – Fixing common PDF accessibility issues
- Excel Accessibility – Creating usable spreadsheets for all users
- Accessible PDF Forms – Designing fillable forms that work with assistive tech
You can choose to take individual courses or register for the full series at a discounted rate (pricing will be listed on the course page). You can learn more about these new courses at CIDE-Learning (opens in a new tab).
