COVID-19 Impact

CU Denver’s International Risk Management Committee (IRMC) will make a determination regarding program cancellation for CU Denver global education programs 8 weeks prior to program commencement. Students planning to participate in any CU Denver global education program this summer will receive an email from our office regarding the determination made. The Office of Global Education (OGE) strongly encourages students not to purchase flights until after receiving clear guidance from OGE to do so.​​​​

OGE is using the aforementioned 8-week timeline to determine whether or not a program must be canceled. Please know we are working with faculty leads and providers to adjust, cancel, postpone and modify programs as the pandemic situation warrants. We are striving to communicate these decisions quickly to provide students with as much notice as possible to make alternative arrangements to fulfill degree requirements.​

Students planning to study abroad with a third-party provider should communicate with the provider to determine the status of summer programs. If a program is not canceled, and the U.S. travel advisory remains at a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” or Level 3 “Reconsider Travel,” the university will not permit the student to participate in the program.

While the university is engaged with travel providers to inquire about refunds and graces, we urge you to also inquire about cost recoveries during the coming weeks and months; and we recommend you do not pay any deposits until there is more certainty that travel and programming will resume.

If you have paid a deposit directly to CU Denver for a Global Study program or for Internship Programs Abroad and your program has been canceled by our office, please rest assured that your deposit will be returned to you.!​
