New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation welcomes all incoming Lynx and their families, by creating a supportive, inclusive and encouraging environment. NSO assists our diverse student population by ensuring a smooth transition through the academic, personal and social adjustments to life at CU Denver. Our programs are dedicated to helping students exceed their own expectations through graduation, all the while creating a community at CU Denver that feels like home. 

Are you a first-year student or are you a transfer student? Let's find out.

First-Year Student

If your only college coursework was taken while you were still enrolled in high school and you hadn't graduated yet, you are a first-year student.

Transfer Student

If you have completed or are completing any college credits after graduating from high school or after earning your GED, you are a transfer student.

If you haven't already replied to your ‘Offer of Admissions’, reply now!

Campus Map

Our office is located in the CU Denver Student Commons Building, located on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, at 1201 Larimer Street, Suite 1107, right off Speer Boulevard. It’s easy to find us and the closest parking is in the Tivoli Garage.

Housing and Dining

CU Denver’s housing and dining option is the Lynx Crossing Residence Hall. We’re an easy stroll from the heart of campus, located right off I-25 and Auraria Parkway at 318 Walnut Street. Our website offers additional living and dining options.

Parents and Families

Parents and families are encouraged to attend Orientation to get to know about CU Denver, the Parent and Family Program, and the ways they can support their student. We also offer online learning modules. Topics include financial aid and campus safety.

Graduate Students

Orientation options for graduate students are handled differently in each school, college, or program. Graduate School staff is available to help students learn which orientation requirements apply to them. For guidance, you’re encouraged to contact the Graduate School.

International Students

International students are required to complete International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) online orientation. Students who don’t complete orientation have a hold placed on their account and can't register for classes.

Veteran and Military Students

New Student Orientation is required for all veteran and military-connected students. Office of Veteran and Military Student Services staff will be available at all Orientation sessions. Determine if you’re a first-year or transfer student, then register.
