Microsoft licensing and resource mailboxes
OIT Project Team Dec 18, 2019Do you access a university shared mailbox (or other applications such as Zoom Video Conferencing) using a shared username and password – not your own personal university credentials*? With the Microsoft licensing changes at the university, shared passwords can no longer be used to access email boxes and applications.
If you log in to an application – such as a shared/resource mailbox – with credentials other than your own, you may be impacted by the licensing changes happening after Tuesday, December 31. Please contact the OIT Service Desk at [email protected] or call 303.724.4357 (4.4357 from a campus phone).

A “resource mailbox” is a mailbox for a conference room, department or shared equipment that uses a shared departmental password for logging into applications such as Outlook and Zoom. OIT will be moving resource mailboxes to Office 365 mailboxes which allows a group of users to view and send e-mail from a common mailbox without a password.
*Your personal university credentials are [email protected] or [email protected]. No action is needed if you access shared applications and email boxes with your own personal credentials.
Visit the OIT resource mailbox information webpage for additional information about the conversion of resource mailboxes to shared mailboxes in Office 365.
