Sitefinity Release Notes: June 18, 2025
Jozianne Mestas | Office of Information Technology Jun 18, 2025Dear university web community members,
We’re pleased to share the latest updates and improvements to our shared content management system, Sitefinity. These changes support our ongoing efforts to enhance site functionality, accessibility, and user experience.
Strategic Project Updates
- Transition to Sitefinity Cloud
- The procurement process is now complete. We’ve officially engaged with our vendor, Progress, and have begun initial planning and testing activities to prepare for the transition to Sitefinity Cloud.
Enhancements to Existing Functionality
- WYSIWYG Anchor Link Update
- A Sitefinity patch has resolved a bug related to anchor links in the WYSIWYG editor. Anchor links now correctly link to the selected page, where it previously would link to the homepage.
Accessibility Improvements
- Hero Video Aria-Label
- We have added a field for users to insert their own custom aria-label video descriptions for screen reader users. If no custom aria-label is used, the default aria-label for the hero video has been updated to indicate that it is decorative and will apply automatically. Helper text has been added for better explanation.
- Calendar
- Calendar has had some role and aria attributes adjusted to improve screen reader experience and to address an issue being flagged in Siteimprove.
- Web Bio Link Styling
- We’ve adjusted link styling of the Name Field in the Web Bio section to ensure that individual Names consistently display as identifiable, clickable links. This change promotes better usability and visual clarity and now conforms to WCAG standards.
