Alternative Licensure Instructor

My Story

I am an Alternative Licensure Instructor for the ASPIRE to Teach program at CU Denver’s School of Education & Human Development. I am a graduate of SEHD’s teacher education program and I spent eights years as a secondary English and ELD teacher in Aurora Public Schools. I also served as CU Denver’s Site Coordinator at Aurora Central High School.

Teachers in the ASPIRE to Teach Program

The teachers we support in the ASPIRE to Teach program face a challenging year. They are navigating the world of a first year teacher, without having taken a single course about how to be an effective teacher. Because of this, I believe it is my job to foster a positive and supportive relationship with my teachers. I strive to be a resource, a coach and a sounding board for them as they move through the alternative licensure process.
