Welcome to Carmody Middle School! Carmody is located in Lakewood, Colorado and has a student population of approximately 650 7th and 8th grade students. Carmody’s student population consists of 59% white, 32% Hispanic, 3% multi-racial, 3% Asian, 2% Black, and 1% American Indian.

Our principal, Scott Allensworth, has been at Carmody for the last 5 years.  Prior to becoming principal, he was the assistant principal at Carmody.   Mr. Allensworth believes all students can learn and supports his staff in making this happen.   We are very lucky to have him lead our great staff.

Our staff is committed to not only providing high quality, differentiated instruction, but building strong relationships with all students.  The staff has always had a focus of “Literacy and Relationships.”  Carmody Middle School’s brand statement is, “iRead, iWrite, iLearn.

Our common vision, teamwork, and strong instructional practices ensure that all our students meet the rigorous academic standards that our district has put in place. We provide differentiated instruction through the Response to Intervention (RtI) model in order to meet the needs of all students.  We offer interventions such as READ 180, SuccessMaker math, literacy courses, and co-taught classrooms.

Carmody offers a variety of elective courses.  We offer Spanish, Physical Education, Vocal Music, Band, Orchestra, Drama, Leadership, Video Production, Gateway Technology, Computers, Yearbook, and Art.

Carmody Middle School offers after-school programs that meet the academic and social needs of students. These include clubs such as drama, martial arts, running club, Zumba, and fantasy football.  Carmody also works with the city of Lakewood in offering students a variety of activities as well as access to the recreation center positioned next door to the school.  Two days of the week, we offer after school lab for all content areas.  Students are welcome to stay and receive extra help in any area.  We offer an activities bus on lab days so that students have transportation available to them.

Your internship will be a great experience! Not only will you work with students, but you will participate in professional learning communities, co-teaching, as well as team and department meetings.  Conferences are held in the fall and spring, so you will experience those as well.  You will also have the opportunity to observe a wide range of effective teaching styles.

We are very proud of our school and can't wait for you to come and share the experience of teamwork and learning here at Carmody Middle School.

We look forward to having you as part of our school community!

Scott Allensworth, Principal
Kelly Curran, Asst. Principal
