UC Denver Site Professor: Stevie Townsend,
Site Coordinator: Joanne Stroud,
Principal: Ann Christy,

Welcome to Edison Elementary! I am Lauren Stewart, the site coordinator at Edison and Stevie Townsend is our site professor.  We help to provide instruction and guidance to UC Denver students who are in the Teacher Education program internship at Edison.  If you are interning at our school, you will find that the staff is hard-working, inviting and supportive, and takes great pride in Edison and all of the students.

Edison is a traditional elementary school with one highly gifted and talented (HGT) class at each grade. The teachers here are encouraged to be creative in meeting student's needs while incorporating the DPS curriculum. Students are encouraged to be self-directed in their learning in order to become life-long learners.

When you step inside the school, you will immediately be encased in history. Most of the building has been here since the early 1900's with some modernization over time, but it has kept the amazing woodwork and architectural details that most recently built schools lack. The families of Edison students also contribute to an overall feeling of warmth in the building. The staff is supported by volunteers from the community on a daily basis! Our character education committee, consisting of teachers and parents, helps to create an environment that shows that "Edison CARRES." CARRES stands for Community Minded, Aware, Responsible, Respectful, Empathetic and Safe.

If you have the opportunity of going through Teacher Education Training at Edison, you will warmly remember your time here knowing that you have been apart of a caring, community-minded, cohort of professional learners.
