How recent should the GRE scores be?

GRE scores may not be more than 5 years old.

2

What should be included in the application essay?

Please read our essay guidelines. They will provide overall suggestions as well as program specific points that you should cover in your written statement.3

 What is the fingerprinting process?

Carefully follow the instructions on the fingerprint affidavit located within our online application. Most important questions are addressed on the affidavit.

Please call your local police department to figure out the process for obtaining a fingerprint card. In rare instances, your local police station will not have them readily available. In this case, you may need to contact another police station. If you are an out of state applicant, please follow this same process.

We cannot accept previous background checks by other entities/states/departments in lieu of this process. We need to see that your prints are specifically on file with the Colorado Department of Education. If you believe they are, you may confirm this by entering your social security number and date of birth on the CDE website. The top of the page will display Fingerprint Requirement: Met once CDE has received satisfactory fingerprint results.

By signing the fingerprint affidavit, you are stating that you have initiated the fingerprint process with and that you have mailed your fingerprints to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for processing.

We will email you no later then two weeks after the application deadline to confirm receipt of materials. At that time, we will let you know if any application items are missing.
