Continuing Education Unit course descriptions

NCED 999.501: Transformational Leadership for Education                                                          The key theme of this workshop is the power of using communication interactions (listening, speaking, conversing, protocols, intentional designs) to change the organizational setting of each participant.  Presence, communication skills (left hand right hand, commitments, empathic listening) and cultural responsive must all be part of these interactions.

NCED 999.502: Pedagogy, Neuroscience and Heartfelt Awareness for Educators                        This workshop provides an introduction to mindful awareness, learning theory, and pedagogical practices. By training teachers in mindfulness techniques, Drs. Brill and Grossenbacher expand and diversify the teaching toolkit to include precision and poise for meeting challenging moments in the classroom. The presenters model engaging lecture and classroom instruction, and facilitate experiential learning, lively discussion and dynamic interaction. Participating educators will engage in several mindfulness-based activities that cultivate awareness and reflection. These include small group discussions, text-based dialogues, dyadic exercises, and protocols for deep listening, cultivating kindness, and rousing energy.
