Reading Teacher Endorsement Program
CU Denver's Reading Teacher endorsement program is designed for currently licensed teachers who want to enhance their literacy instruction skills and credentials, whether in the classroom or in coaching and reading recovery contexts.
The endorsement program is part of our Literacy, Language and Culturally Responsive Teaching Program. It consists of nine courses outlined in this course plan. The endorsements may generally be completed within two years, and is designed to fit around your professional teaching hours. Clinical experience required for the program can often be completed in your own school classroom.
Those who complete the program, pass the PLACE Exam for Reading Teacher and have two or more years of licensed teaching experience, may apply to the Colorado Department of Education for the added endorsement. The endorsement can also be added to a master's degree you already hold.
If you are a licensed teacher but do not yet have a master's in education, you may pursue both the degree and the endorsement with CU Denver. Please select our Reading and Writing, K-12 endorsement course plan to learn more.
Detailed application requirements and materials are available.
