To be considered for the University Honors and Leadership Program (UHL), you must be either an incoming first-year student or an upper division student with at least 45 credits or an associates degree and will attend the University of Colorado Denver as a full-time undergraduate. Applications for a fall 2021 admission is now available. Early applications are encouraged.
The CU Denver University Honors and Leadership Program (UHL) is our university-wide undergraduate honors program, offering both a traditional academic honors curriculum and an honors program in leadership studies. UHL offers students an array of opportunities that aren't available to the typical undergraduate and does so within an environment that simultaneously promotes educational excellence, social and intellectual community, teamwork, and individual initiative.
Just a few reasons to consider UHL...
Access to the UHL house with work space, computers, printer, copier, meeting room, and UHL staff and faculty
Innovative curriculum with a wide range of multidisciplinary courses taught by leading faculty
Up to $10,000 in UHL scholarships over four years and opportunities to apply for additional UHL-specific scholarships
Membership in a cohort-based community that provides intellectual and social opportunities from the moment you arrive on campus
Opportunity to earn a minor in multidisciplinary research methods, leadership studies, or honors and leadership
International education experiences, including study abroad programs with fellow UHL students
Opportunity to participate in state, regional, and national honors and leadership conferences
We start accepting applications for the new cohort in December for the following fall. Only 40 first-year students and 20 upper division students are accepted. We continue accepting applications until the cohort is filled.
Academics are just part of what we're all about. Our educational efforts are enhanced by opportunities that go far beyond the academic college experience. You’ll participate in community service, leadership-development activities, and have the chance to study abroad with UHL faculty and fellow students.
We stimulate intellectual curiosity and foster close relationships with fellow students and professors through small class size and a cohort model. All of our students receive a base scholarship and may apply for additional scholarships. They also have exclusive access to the UHL house which is the hub for our activities.
Your honors and leadership experience is guided by faculty and staff dedicated to mentoring, advising, and teaching UHL students. Our staff is located in the UHL house and is readily available to support and assist. Our faculty members are leaders in their academic field who enjoy the reward of teaching our dedicated and bright students.
