The Change Makers Curriculum

A roadmap for what’s next

The CU Denver Change Makers curriculum is designed to guide you through a journey of self-discovery, exploration, and action—equipping you with the tools, insights, and community to shape a meaningful future.

Phase 1: Internal Discovery — Start with You

Every journey begins with understanding where you are. Through guided reflections and discussions, you’ll explore your past experiences to uncover your unique strengths, values, and identity. These insights become the foundation for designing a next chapter that reflects who you are and what matters most.

You’ll explore questions such as:

  • What patterns and priorities have shaped my life so far?
  • What gives me energy, meaning, and fulfillment today?
  • How might my strengths point to what’s next?

The Change Makers journey unfolds across three intentional phases—moving from reflection to exploration to action.

Phase 2: External Exploration — Imagine What’s Possible

Next, you’ll turn outward. You’ll build and practice skills like curiosity, creativity, and experimentation as you research, test, and refine possible directions for your future. Guest speakers, peer conversations, and reflective exercises will help you discover new ways to work, volunteer, learn, and contribute.

You’ll engage in activities like:

  • Conducting “exploratory research” through informational interviews
  • Learning from experts on purpose, longevity, and social impact
  • Exploring opportunities for community involvement and wellbeing

Phase 3: Crafting Your Vision and Plan — Turn Dreams into Action

In the final phase, you’ll integrate what you’ve learned and develop a concrete plan for moving forward. Working with peers and mentors, you’ll create a compelling vision for your next chapter and define achievable milestones to bring it to life.

You’ll leave with:

  • A personal vision statement
  • A 12-week action plan
  • A community of peers to support your continued growth

Beyond the Three Phases

Throughout the semester, you’ll have opportunities to expand your mind and connections beyond the classroom:

  • Audit CU Denver courses for intellectual stimulation — no tests, no grades
  • Attend university events including lectures, exhibitions, and performances
  • Join a lifelong alumni network of other Change Makers who continue to share insights, opportunities, and inspiration

Your Takeaway

By the end of the program, you’ll emerge with:

  • Greater clarity about who you are and what you want next
  • A structured plan to begin your next chapter
  • A supportive community of peers and alumni to help sustain your momentum
