AI Strategy Working Groups

About the Working Groups

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to be the most disruptive technology many of us will see our lifetime. This disruption will likely result in efficiencies and redundancies that will impact all of our lives. As CU Denver embarks on evaluating the possibilities of AI, it is important to look to existing policies and values to ground our inquiry and guide future conversations.

To begin identifying ways to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into our institution, we are establishing three focused working groups. Each group will address and consider AI strategy in specific areas: Teaching and Learning, Research, and Administration and Operations. Each working group will include diverse perspectives to ensure comprehensive understanding. Working groups will be open to all faculty members and staff (with supervisor approval) with attention to appropriate representation across schools, colleges, and units depending on the committee topic. There will also be opportunities for engagement beyond these committees to provide feedback and receive updates.

The goal of these working groups is to help CU Denver ensure a holistic and strategic approach to integrating AI into our institution. Engaging a wide range of community members in these groups allows for a comprehensive representation of the community's interests and concerns, ensuring that the AI strategy reflects the collective vision and addresses the needs of all members. This collaborative effort not only enhances the quality and relevance of our AI initiatives but will also support a sense of ownership and commitment across the institution.  There will also be DEI and OIT expertise incorporated in each team. These groups will also consider the important policy issues, privacy concerns, and ethical questions that arise from AI and make proposals for possible new policies or policy updates.

Research

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential both to bolster research at CU Denver and create ethical challenges for the conduct of that research. This working group will study how AI tools can be leveraged for data analysis and predictive modeling and for enhancing research methodologies. It will also seek to understand how the university can ensure ethical standards and integrity are maintained in AI-driven research.
