International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, celebrating the expansion of horizons, fostering connections, and promoting mutual understanding between people in the United States and other countries. A student’s ability to engage globally during their academic career provides opportunities for transformative experiences, preparing them for international careers.
The Office of International Affairs is proud to serve the internationalization goals of both CU Denver and CU Anschutz. This fall, international students from 85 countries, ranging from Argentina to China, Ghana, and Vietnam, as well as Peru, enrolled at CU Denver. CU Anschutz enrolled international students from 46 countries, including Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Egypt, and more.
International students enrich campus life, bringing global perspectives and cultural diversity into our classrooms. Their presence also contributes to the economy and to sustaining jobs; for every three international students, one U.S. job is created or supported. International students studying at U.S. colleges and universities contributed $42.9 billion and supported 355,736 jobs for the U.S. economy during the 2024-2025 academic year. In Colorado, international students contributed $428.8 million to the state economy and supported 5,141 jobs. This included bringing $44.7 million and supporting 425 jobs to CU Denver, as well as $7.1 million and supporting 32 jobs at CU Anschutz. (Source: NAFSA International Student Economic Value Tool)
In addition to international students coming to our campuses, more CU Denver and CU Anschutz students are expanding their knowledge through short-term and semester-long studies and experiences abroad. Global learning opportunities and study abroad programs make international learning experiences accessible to the university’s diverse student population, including first-generation students, veterans, transfers, and students from diverse backgrounds.
International partnerships are a cornerstone of our global engagement. With over 90 active international partnerships between CU Denver and CU Anschutz, we are fostering a culture of academic collaboration, faculty exchange, collaborative research, study abroad programs, joint publications, and training. These partnerships open doors to new learning opportunities and experiences for our students and faculty.
