Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

CUE&A provides academic advising to College of Arts and Media (CAM) first-years, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) undeclared students, and undergraduate Non-Degree students. In addition, the CUE&A invites students still exploring their academic options to make an appointment with a CUE&A Success Advisor.

If you have a declared major, you should meet with your school/college advisor for degree mapping and course selection support. Find your advisor if you have a declared major.

You should meet with your advisor at least once each semester. 

Schedule an advising appointment in October to early November to discuss classes for spring. Schedule an advising appointment in March to early April to discuss classes for summer or fall. 

You should also meet with your advisor any time you are having trouble with a class, have questions about the university, or need help with something.

CUE&A, your school/college advising office, or another unit on campus may place an alert on your record that prevents you from registering for the next semester.

In most cases the hold is meant as a reminder that you have some outstanding business to attend to (meeting an advisor, paying a bill) before the next semester. You should contact the office that has placed the hold to resolve it.

Until the drop/add deadline, you can change your schedule through the UCDAccess Portal. Please meet with an advisor in our office for the most recent drop/add process.

Each semester you are given a registration time assignment based on your total credit hours. Please go to Lynx Central to view a list of registration dates. If you have an alert/hold on your registration, you must speak to the department that placed the alert/hold before you can register.

Contact the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences advising office at 303-315-7100 to schedule an appointment with an advisor. You will also be referred to a Health Professions advisor.

• Talk to a CUE&A Success Advisor about your academic and career interests
• Meet with a career counselor in the Career Center to discuss possible careers and interests
• Think about what classes you have taken that you have really enjoyed and which ones you disliked
• Take some exploratory courses in areas in which you think you might be interested
• Speak to professionals in fields that interest you

If you would like to declare a major in another college within CU Denver, you will need to fill out an Intra-university transfer (IUT) form.

You're required to fill out an Intra-university Transfer (IUT) form​ and turn it in to the college for which you are applying. Each college has its own IUT requirements, so please speak to your advisor to make sure that you have fulfilled the requirements before you apply.

In order to receive transfer credit for classes taken at another university, you must have an official copy of your transcript sent to Admissions. CU Denver will only accept classes from accredited universities and will evaluate your transcript to determine your transfer credit. For more questions, please contact Admissions.
