A team from the Anschutz Medical Campus
Office of Diversity and Inclusion presented at the National Association of Student Personel Administrators (
NASPA) IV West Conference in Rapid City, south Dakota this past week.
The team included Dominic Martinez, director; Christian Valtierra, assistant director; Medhat Ahmed, coordinator; and Bridget Buckley, graduate assistant.
The title of the presentation was Partnerships: A pathway to increase diversity, academic self-efficacy and leadership.
The main idea of the presentation was partnerships between community organizations and four-year institutions that have long been established for the retention and persistence of students during their undergraduate years. However little emphasis has been placed on the creation of a sustainable community and four-year universities to professional programs.
The session was designed to highlight and define the need for collaboration between community organizations, four-year universities and professional programs to create successful partnerships and programs for students.
