AURORA, Colo. -- Lilly Marks, the top executive of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, has been named one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Denver by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce (CWCC).

Marks, vice president for health affairs for the University of Colorado and executive vice chancellor for the Anschutz Medical Campus, was honored at a gala attended by 360 on Jan. 23 at The Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.

It takes a team
“I’m grateful for this acknowledgment, which really is about the teamwork and collegial approach that the Anschutz Medical Campus embodies,” Marks said. “I couldn’t be prouder to represent and help lead a talented campus committed to teaching, health care, research and community.”

The CWCC says it chose 25 women who “have gone above and beyond and become outstanding figures in our community.” Honorees were from fields such as business, philanthropy, politics, education and non-profits.

A sense of judgment
“You’re originally judged for being able to do things right,” Marks says in a video shared at the event that showcased the 2014 honorees offering advice. “But over time, it’s the ability to demonstrate that you can do the right thing. And it’s not always the same.

“You have to accept that you will often not be the smartest person in the room. But you progress in your career by being able to demonstrate that you might be the wisest person in the room, that you have a sense of judgment.”
