Department layouts are used for main landing pages within your website that need to be visually unique from the other content pages.

The Department Home layout is used for smaller sites that do not need left navigation. This layout has a left column, below the image, for related content and calls-to-action, a primary content area in the center, and a right column for related content.

Department Home (Local navigation)

The Department Home (Local navigation) layout is also used as a homepage for smaller sites but has both the primary navigaiton and left navigation. This layout has a left column for calls-to-action, a primary content area in the center, and a right column for related content.
