The university drives economic development and innovation, providing a high return on investment. In recent fiscal years the state economic impact of the university exceeded $2 billion through direct and campus expenditures in payroll, operations, and student spending. When compared to Colorado businesses, revenue from the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus would place the university in the top 15 among publicly traded companies. By itself, the Anschutz Medical Campus would place in the top 20.

Innovations for a better life
School of Medicine + Community Clients = Assistive Technology Partners
One in five people in the United States live with a disability, but it is possible to make their lives easier through technology. Together with their clients, School of Medicine faculty in Assistive Technology Partners created and developed the most comprehensive program in the field to identify, evaluate and test these technologies, and to help increase maintain or improve the functional capabilities of those with disabilities or limitations due to again. Since its founding in 1989, the program has provided information and services to more than 470,000 people around the world.

College of Architecture and Planning + Denver Public Schools = Learning Landscapes
Learning Landscapes is a forward-thinking program at the University of Colorado Denver that connects the design and construction of urban public spaces with healthy initiatives. Since 1998, in partnership with Denver Public Schools, we have transformed 81 neglected public elementary schoolyards into attractive and safe multi-use parks tailored to the needs and desires of their neighbors and communities.

College of Arts & Media + the Lakewood Police Department = Safer Communities
Students with CU Denver’s College of Arts & Media are helping uncover valuable information from clues found at crime scenes. Our National Center for Media Forensics is partnering with the Lakewood Police Department, where interns from the center help collect, process and analyze crime scene audio, video, and computer evidence.

Partnering for sustainable futures
College of Engineering and Applied Science + City & County of Denver = Sustainable Concrete
Faculty and students in the Civil Engineering department have been developing and testing a variety of materials for use in concrete that include, at least in part, materials like waste glass, recycled concrete aggregate, and fly ash. A partnership with the City & County of Denver has lead to the testing of several mixtures in alleys, including fly-ash, and more recently a crumb rubber concrete mixture
