Telling the CU Denver Story, 9-3-13


​Dear Denver Campus colleagues,
 
Who exactly is CU Denver?
 
We who work here know that CU Denver makes lives better. Our work has produced game-changing innovations and launched thousands of fulfilling careers.
 
But despite this campus’s many accomplishments and first-rate programs, the greater community does not always recognize CU Denver as the leading public urban research university it is.
 
It’s time—past time, in my opinion—to raise awareness about CU Denver, the excellence of our faculty and programs, and what sets us apart.
 
That’s why our University Communications office has been leading an effort to develop an identity and advertising campaign to get the word out about CU Denver. In a process that began last fall, University Communications gained insights and perspective from hundreds of CU Denver students, faculty, staff, alumni and business and community leaders to determine the best way to tell the CU Denver story to a broader audience. The end result is a groundbreaking advertising and identity campaign that defines the essence of CU Denver and will guide future communications about the university.  
 
Beginning in just a few days, you’ll find the campaign ads on TV and radio, in movie theaters, online, in print and outdoors. This first phase of the campaign will run from mid-September through April.
 
The TV commercials—the first in CU Denver history—feature actual CU Denver students, alumni, faculty and staff. These ads illustrate, through striking camera angles and footage, our connection with the city of Denver and showcase the determination of our students.
 
You’re invited to preview the new campaign at its launch on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Tivoli Turnhalle from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. You’ll be part of the action and excitement, which will include free food, giveaways and an entry to win prizes including an iPad and gift cards. Remarks start at noon.
 
For a taste of the campaign before the event, tune in to the Broncos home opener Thursday, Sept. 5, on NBC, during the first half.
