Why the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program at CU Denver?

BS in Electrical Engineering, EE Scholars program (BS/MS)

The Electrical Engineering department at the University of Colorado Denver aims to cater to students' needs by offering a minor in Electrical Engineering. This minor provides an opportunity for students majoring in other engineering and applied science fields to expand their training. Electrical engineers utilize mathematical and physics principles to create a variety of systems, including smart electric grids, embedded systems, computer engineering products, integrated electronics, communications, sensing and imaging devices, and information technology. The minor program offers a foundational understanding of electrical engineering along with exposure to advanced applications. Students will gain practical experience in engineering design through real-world applications and hands-on learning.

Minor in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering

The department aims to broaden the education of students majoring in other engineering fields by offering a minor in computer engineering. This minor covers a significant portion of the electrical engineering major, specifically focusing on computer engineering, a rapidly growing field with abundant job opportunities. Providing this minor can greatly improve students' recruitment potential. Unlike most engineering majors, this minor doesn't require the calculus sequence as a prerequisite, making it accessible to a wide range of CU Denver students interested in exploring computer engineering basics. Moreover, making these courses available to all majors will encourage interdisciplinary collaboration across the campus.

People and Accreditation

We provide graduate programs and an ABET-accredited undergraduate program that are accessible to a diverse group of students-students of different racial and cultural backgrounds, full-time students as well as those who have considerable work and family commitments outside their academic learning and students with a wide variety of work experiences.
