Manager

Career Family: Academic Services Professional Level: Academic Services Manager
Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.
Professional Level Job Summary: Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of functional work units, including the development and implementation of processes consistent with college, school or departmental strategies and processes and the supervision of professional and support staff.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Three (3) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field. Optional Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or terminal degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Four (4) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field. Related professional experience as manager, supervisor, work leader, staff authority or project/program administrator.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service skills. Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion with a commitment to developing equitable practices. Ability to perform duties independently without guidance and direction from other professionals. Ability to articulate the University's mission and the importance of the 2030 strategic plan. Ability to manage ambiguous situations and/or information and translate them into results. Ability to demonstrate exceptional management and leadership qualities. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high attention to detail. Ability to effectively plan, assign, delegate and supervise the work of others. Demonstrate progressive supervisory qualities.
Supervision Exercised: No cap on supervision exercised. Should not supervise a higher professional level position.
