Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering educational content to enhance learning outcomes and/or academic research to advance knowledge and innovation. These positions require strong communication skills, academic expertise, and a commitment to advancing knowledge through teaching and research.
Minimum Qualifications: Terminal Degree (Doctorate, JD, DBA, etc.) from an accredited university //Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in a related discipline, from an accredited institution. Substitution of tested experience for the MFA or PhD, depending on field.
The process for hiring standard into the Tenure/Tenure track Professor position is determined by each college and must define the specific substantive criteria for the requirements for each level: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. The Tenure/Tenure track Professor series serves as a subject matter expert and/or primary investigator engaged in fundamental research withing a specialized and/or designated field of study to expand principles or further the overall direction of the discipline. The T/TT faculty conduct activities in each of the three areas of teaching, scholarly/creative work and leadership and service and where relevant, other activities to their specific unit/department.
Preferred Qualifications: Tenure may be awarded only to faculty members with demonstrated excellence in either teaching or scholarly/creative work and at least meritorious performance in the other areas.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner, across various modalities; ability to effectively listen and share relevant information, anticipate problems, and offer suggestions for resolution, where appropriate.
Ability to establish and respond to, as well as, balance multiple work priorities, follow through, and meet established deadlines.

Ability and commitment to pursue and establish externally funded research programs and direct Masters and PhD student research, as appropriate for field and discipline.
Engagement in professional service such as grant and journal referee and eventual familiarization with discipline accreditation processes is expected of all department faculty.
