Assistant Teaching Professor

Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering educational content to enhance learning outcomes and/or academic research to advance knowledge and innovation. These positions require strong communication skills, academic expertise, and a commitment to advancing knowledge through teaching and research.
Minimum Qualifications: Terminal Degree (Doctorate, JD, DBA, etc.) Demonstrated significant experience in their teaching area. Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the university level. Potential for service and research/scholarship that supports the program and the School. They must demonstrate ongoing relevance through intellectual contributions in research/scholarship or be within five years of receiving terminal degrees. Successful completion of two or more academic years of teaching experience (teaching while a student will satisfy teaching requirement if serving as the primary instructor). Must show potential for teaching effectiveness. Typical indicators include past teaching/course evaluations, a documented history of developed courses/curricula, and/or pedagogical training. Show recent intellectual contributions in research/scholarship or should be within 5 years of receiving their terminal degree.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a clinical or health related industry teaching experience and/or field experience supervision at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels Professional industry experience or other professional license Experience supporting and managing student functions and programs Scholarly research skills and experience. Proven experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse population at all levels throughout the institution�and into the community.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner, across various modalities; ability to effectively listen and share relevant information, anticipate problems, and offer suggestions for resolution, where appropriate. Ability to establish and respond to, as well as, balance multiple work priorities, follow through, and meet established deadlines. Intentionally contribute to a respectful, equitable, positive, and professional workplace. Commitment to enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the field/discipline through research, teaching, and service. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Effective critical thinking skills. Understanding of the needs of a diverse student population. Strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and success. Commitment to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, as needed, and diverse student populations. Experience in online or hybrid delivery. Ability and commitment to pursue and establish externally funded research programs and direct Masters and PhD student research, as appropriate for field and discipline. Engagement in professional service such as grant and journal referee and eventual familiarization with discipline accreditation processes is expected of all department faculty.
