Program Director

Career Family: Facilities Professional Level: Facilities Program Director
Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family provide professional management of operation, maintenance and renovation of University buildings and equipment. Functions include fire protection; physical plant operations; power systems and utilities management; custodial, skilled trades, grounds and waste management; and materials management including property, mailing, inventory and distribution services.
Professional Level Job Summary: Program Directors are responsible for the ongoing leadership and oversight of a program or function, including the development of strategies and processes which contribute to the University and/or campus mission and accountability for services provided. These positions typically do not supervise others.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a related field and APPA Certified Education Professional, APPA Sustainability Facility Professional, USGBC LEED Certification. Four (4) years of related professional experience in Facilities/Building Operations, Maintenance, Multifamily Unit, or additional field trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, etc. Optional Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's or terminal degree in a related field. Additional field realted bonds, licensures, or certifications such as APPA Certified Education Professional, APPA Sustainability Facility Professional, USGBC LEED Certification Five (5) years of related professional experience in Facilities/Building Operations, Maintenance, Multifamily Unit, or additional field trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, etc. Related professional experience as director, project/program supervisor, work leader, or staff authority
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of construction and maintenance management methods and practices related to an academic health and research facility. Ability to administer, effectively plan, organize, budget and direct Facilities Maintenance or warranties and renovation activities. Ability to develop and implementation continuous process improvements efforts for equipment maintenance and efficient operations. An exceptional understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion with a committment to developing equitable practices. Ability to utilize a computer to maintain and track maintenance & repair orders including schedules, budgets and allocation of personnel and other resources. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing including the use of electronic mail, and ability to prepare and present proposals for Facilities Management. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, staff members, faculty, and with personnel of external agencies. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Ability to provide and/or coordinate staff training and professional development. Hire, train, mentor, coach, and conduct personnel evaluations; mediate conflict resolution and implement performance awards and disciplinary actions as required. Ability to write, negotiate and manage services contracts.
Supervision Exercised: Can supervise students. No cap on # of students. May supervise no more than (2) 2.0 FTE. If the position has supervision exceeding (2) 2.0 FTE the department should be able to provide a clear justification as to why the org. structure cannot support a higher level position
