Professional Level Job Summary: Associate Deans provide leadership and administrative service as associate head of a college or school. Associate Deans support the work and role of the Dean in leading or managing the affairs of a college or school, including acting on the Dean's behalf. [Note: Associate Deans with a faculty appointment are appointed to Associate Dean-Faculty.]
Minimum Qualifications: Master's or terminal degree may somtimes be required based on the position
5 years of experience specific to duties of position 3 years prior supervisory experience of one or more professional level positions OR 2 years of experience developing undergraduate and graduate level program development (Student Services)
Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience and understanding of research/creative works and research-focused training and careers. Experience in preparing grants for submission to external research agencies Experience that demonstrates empathy towards other professionals in the workplace and assisting them in their personal growth, acquisition of skills and career development. Strong, demonstrated commitment and accomplishment in building diversity and inclusion
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proven ability to effectively collaborate with other executives and leaders to achieve organizational goals. Proven track record of engaging and contributing to larger organization issues beyond the confines of unit. Proven ability to function independently and at a high level under complex situations. Proven ability to conceptualize complex administrative and fiscal problems, and to develop and implement effective action plans. Proven ability to set a tone of leadership that is collaborative and transparent, and which effectively utilizes data-driven decision making. Proven ability to effectively supervise, lead, mentor and direct a variety of professional personnel. Outstanding communication skills and ability to effectively develop, organize and present written and oral reports to internal and external constituents, including faculty and departmental administrators, staff, affiliates, campus and university administration, and regional and national professional organizations. Strong, demonstrated commitment and accomplishment in building diversity and inclusion. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical capability and professional judgment Proven ability to manage large amounts of complex data, and to coordinate a variety of information systems.
