Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family manage the physical infrastructure of the University. Functions include planning, architectural design, capital project commissioning, building code compliance, engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.), architectural drafting, landscape design, energy conservation and construction project management.
Professional Level Job Summary: Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Design or Construction Management Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of related professional experience in failure analysis, construction management, knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction, building codes, design, electrical and/or civil engieering , or other related field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Working knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite Working Knowlege with Bluebeam An understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion with a committment to developing equitable practices
Supervision Exercised: Can supervise students. No cap on # of students supervised (should not supervise permanent staff. Temporary staff supervision is rare and should be closely reviewed with justification). Note: Since temporary appointments can be at many levels a "temp" SME should not report to a Entry Professional
